The Guatemalan-born singer Michy P aka "Michelle Palmieri", was awarded the ACP Grant from the Queens Council on the Arts of New York in Music Composition.
The recording project with which she obtained this prestigious award is called "Canciones for a New World" (Songs for a New World) and is written and produced in collaboration with Grammy Award winner keyboardist Enrico de Trizio.
“This is a children's record, but not like other children's music records we're used to. It is a modern record in English and Spanish. Not only makes people dance - even adults - with rhythms like Dembow, Cumbia, Kizomba and Tropipop but it deals with unusual themes for this type of music, such as integration, the importance of one's roots, social conscience, respect for the planet, homosexuality and female emancipation. We wanted to make our contribution to these important causes without being rhetorical or judgmental, on the contrary by highlighting how difficult issues can be dealt within a natural and fun way."
